Anika Poddar is a student at Modern High International School, Kolkata, where she is pursuing her International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. At the Higher Level, Anika studies Geography, Economics and Math Ab Initio, and at the Standard Level she studies Spanish B, English Literature and Language, as well as Biology. Anika is passionate about economics and, particularly, sustainable development and the financial inclusion of women from underserved communities in India.
Beyond the academic realm, Anika is a playwright, having written the play “Shadows of Deceit,” exploring intergenerational trauma, magical realism, and mystery, which was performed at her school. She enjoys music and plays the piano and xylophone. Additionally, she is a trained chess player and enjoys playing sports such as badminton, squash, table tennis, football and basketball. Anika devotes her spare time to volunteer work; she participated in the International Award for Young People, Bronze Level, teaching piano and badminton to underserved groups at old-age homes and orphanages.
